Local Gungahlin businesses progressing growth of arts in region with commission of student-led art wall

A new community artwork, executed by 23 local students from Gungahlin College has been unveiled in the heart of Gungahlin. The artwork is the first step towards progressing the growth of arts in the region; the next of which is to transform Gungahlin College’s Arts Stage into the first public art exhibition space in Gungahlin.

The 14 metre long and 1 metre tall digital wall installation displays an array of diverse birds, painted by the individual students. Each student was asked to select a bird based on beauty, wisdom, playfulness and vividness, and paint it in a medium of choice. read more

Woolworths is encouraging Gungahlin residents to nominate their local school or early learning centre for its inaugural Inspiring Schools Awards as the supermarket celebrates the return of Earn & Learn.

The popular Woolworths Earn & Learn program helps schools and early learning centres obtain a variety of educational resources, including sporting, mathematics, arts, science and technology equipment. read more

Fewer shopping trolleys to be abandoned with new systems now in place

Residents should see fewer shopping trolleys abandoned on nature strips, in parks and by the roadside after new systems were put in place this week to ensure retailers that provide trolleys have containment systems in place.

“Over recent months, Transport Canberra and City Services has been working closely with major retail providers to ensure they comply with shopping trolley management and the regulatory requirements of the Litter Act 2004,” Minister for Transport and City Services Meegan Fitzharris said. read more

Coles creates 77 new jobs at new supermarket in Amaroo

Amaroo residents have been waiting a very long time for their very own shops and on the 8th of February they will finally have them! The new centre with Coles supermarket and a range of other specialty stores and basement car park is a welcomed development by local residents.

More than 100 local residents have secured a role at Coles’ new Amaroo, supermarket. The new market-style Amaroo supermarket will employ 77 new recruits and 30 existing team members who have transferred from existing Coles stores in the area.  read more

Managed car parking at Marketplace Gungahlin commences 28th November

On 19th August, Marketplace Gungahlin opened their new two level underground car park which accomodates 500 car parking spaces and weather protected travelator access to Woolworths and Kmart.

Combined with the car parking within the Big W mall, there are now a total of 1,300+ car parking spaces available for customer convenience at Marketplace Gungahlin. read more

Celebrating 29 years, Kmart together with The Salvation Army and Mission Australia are helping to show others that they are not alone.

Yesterday Kmart Gungahlin launched their Christmas wishing tree along with students from Neville Bonner Primary school by decorating the tree, placing the first 2 official gifts under three, singing Jingle Bells and of course the morning was completed with cake and a special visit by Santa.
