Parts of Gungahlin have one month to switch to the NBN

Home and business owners in parts of Gungahlin have around one month to switch their home and internet services over to the National Broadband Network (NBN) before the existing copper network is retired.*

For the first time in the ACT, the NBN is scheduled to replace most existing home and business phones, ADSL internet and Telstra cable internet services in parts of Gungahlin, which will be switched off from 17 July 2014. (Locations outlined in map below.) read more

More areas in the Australian Capital Territory are getting access to the National Broadband Network's reliable, high-speed broadband thanks to the Gillard Government.

The Minister for Broadband, Communications and the Digital Economy, Senator Stephen Conroy, today joined Labor ACT Senator, Kate Lundy, and the Member for Fraser, Dr Andrew Leigh, to officially switch on NBN fibre services to another 10,700 premises in Gungahlin. read more

NBN Co deal with TransACT to speed ACT rollout and lower costs

NBN Co has reached an agreement with TransACT/iiNet for the purchase of their TransACT-branded fibre-to-the-premises network in the ACT and access to other infrastructure.

Under the agreement, with an initial value of around $9 million, NBN Co will purchase TransACT’s existing fibre-to-the-premises network, which covers approximately 8,500 premises/lots, and has  agreed to purchase network assets currently planned or under construction covering a further 4,500 premises/lots. read more

NBN goes live at Gungahlin Library

Testing has begun today at the Gungahlin Library on the ACT’s first public connection to the National Broadband Network (NBN), in preparation for the whole of the Gungahlin Town Centre going live in January.

Gungahlin residents have eagerly anticipated the arrival of superfast broadband – it’s pleasing that NBNCo has met its pre-Christmas 2012 deadline for this first connection, with the rest of Gungahlin to progressively come on line during 2013. read more
