Emelia gets her own wheels for freedom

Emelia’s mother Nikki is shrieking with anxiety and delight as the little girl races away down the Gunghalin footpath on her new bike. Emelia tugs on the brake, halts, turns and smiles. It is the smile of a six year old girl who is not allowed to jump on a trampoline or climb a tree, but can be like many other children her age and ride a bike. read more

Review: Mr Sushi

Finding a good sushi provider is an important foodie goal. When it goes wrong, it goes very wrong indeed. Luckily in Gungahlin, Mr Sushi will sort you out for all your sushi related needs. I have been visiting for years and it is a great venue for when you want a quick and cheap, but super healthy lunch. Weirdly there are also franchises in Darwin, which seems a bit random. So what is on offer? Well despite what you may have heard, sushi is not limited to raw fish and frankly there is something to suit everyone’s tastes. read more

Review: Delikase Filipino Cuisine

Gungahlin is a great place for a foodie. There is a plethora of Asian, Indian and Italian eateries across our broad expanse. It is unusual though for a new place to open up that exposes us to an entirely different cuisine. Luckily for us we now have our own local Filipino Restaurant. No more traipsing down to Weston for us, which I think we can all agree is a fabulous thing. Better yet a new food home delivery service will bring it right to your door. read more

G-Tree Cafe review by Karen Really Likes Food

G-tree cafe has been an ongoing presence in Gungahlin for a number of years and has built a devoted following. Not only do they offer great food and coffee but they are in a prime location, positioned within the shopping centre. Even better, the indoor playground is located just outside and they will deliver coffee to it while you wrangle your children. Major selling point! Indoor and outdoor seating is also available if you wish to escape the children. read more

Kokoro review by Karen Really Likes Food

Kokoro is one of Canberra’s best Japanese restaurants and, luckily for the locals, has been open in Gungahlin since 2012. The restaurant interior is elegant, with lots of dark wood and modern decor. Do not let this intimidate you though, this is a restaurant full of warmth. As you enter the restaurant, the chefs will pause in their hard work, smile broadly and give a hearty “Irasshaimase” (Welcome!). read more

ACCC rules on Coles buyout of Supabarn

Last year we sought feedback and comments from the public in Crace, Gungahlin, Canberra, and the Sydney suburbs that have a Supabarn store. Results were collated and the Crace Community Association put in a 48 page submission to ACCC. The strong preference of respondents was that Supabarn remained in Crace, though there were those who either didn't mind, and some who preferred the sale go ahead. We sent a representative to the ACCC forum on the topic which also contributed to our submission. read more
