Fire on store roof in Gungahlin


ACT Fire & Rescue has extinguished a small fire in a circuit board attached to solar panels on the roof of a store in Gungahlin.

Crews were alerted to the incident on Ernest Cavanagh Street at 9:39am and responded with two fire pumpers and a commander vehicle. read more

Smoke haze around Canberra


Emergency Services Agency has advised that residents, especially those in the west of Canberra, may notice a heavy smoke haze around the local region.

This smoke is the result of prescribed hazard-reduction pile burns in Kowen Forest as well as other hazard reduction burns taking place in surrounding NSW. read more

Gungahlin Rural Fire Brigade celebrate 20 years


Last night the members of the Gungahlin Rural Fire Brigade hung up their fire fighting gear for a celebratory dinner at Da Nunzio to celebrate their 20th anniversary.

Gungahlin Rural Fire Brigade is part of the ACT Rural Fire Service which is responsible for protecting life, property and the environment from all bush and grass fires that occur within rural areas or non-suburban areas of the ACT. read more

Yesterday afternoon at around 4:42pm ACT Fire and Rescue responded to reports of a house fire at Minnta Place Ngunnawal.
