Pass the popcorn, an update on the cinema development


Once upon a time in a galaxy far far away. In September 2012 the ACT Labor Government committed to allowing for a cinema development in Gungahlin. Block 1, Section 12 Gungahlin was released for this purpose. This site is bounded by Hibberson, Hinder, Kate Crace and Efkarpidis Streets, which is within the main shopping and entertainment precincts of Gungahlin. See the map below. read more

Cinema update: Development Application submission period closed


Last year saw the development application for the cinema development finally submitted for public comment and this subsequently closed on the 23rd December. Any submissions received through this process will now need to be considered by The Environment, Planning and Sustainable Development Directorate and the developer. read more

Gungahlin cinema reaches another key milestone


Gungahlin’s cinema is one step closer today after the announcement that Hoyts will be the preferred operator, local MLA Meegan Fitzharris said.

Today at Gungahlin College MLA Meegan Fitzharris announced support for key events in Gungahlin over the coming two years. "I am pleased to announce that the ACT Government will deliver a Movie Marathon event for the Gungahlin community in 2016, and will also help support the Celebrate Gungahlin Festival for 2016 and 2017."

Gungahlin cinema one step closer with contract settlement


A cinema in Gungahlin is one step closer today after the preferred tenderer settled the contract to develop the site, local MLA Meegan Fitzharris said.
