New October bus timetable and free Green and Black Rapid travel has commenced

Canberrans are reminded that Transport Canberra’s new bus timetable has commenced this weekend, with the introduction of two new weekday Rapid bus services, improved service times across the network and better connections to meet the needs of our growing city.

“This timetable is the first of a series of improvements being made as we work towards the introduction of light rail, and an integrated public transport system in late 2018,” said David Matthews, Executive Director, Public Transport Operations. read more

More bike racks on ACT buses

It will be easier than ever to get your bike on a bus, with Transport Canberra announcing a further 33 buses in their fleet will be fitted with bike racks.

Director, Public Transport Operations, Ian McGlinn said Transport Canberra is currently in the process of installing the new bike racks, with all 33 to be installed on buses by the end of June 2017. read more

Temporary road closures for Gungahlin Bus Station works

Works associated with the construction of the new Gungahlin Bus Station are scheduled to begin next week and last until early August 2017. To allow the work to be completed safely, temporary road closures will be put in place on sections of Gungahlin Place and Hibberson Street. read more

Black rapid bus to Belconnen from Gungahlin

The ACT Government will provide free travel on two new Rapid bus routes as part of a trial of the services, deliver new ticket machines, progress procurement of a one ticket, one fare solution for bus and light rail and provide new bus priority infrastructure to support our growing transport network. read more

Sunday timetable in effect this Easter long weekend

Transport Canberra is reminding public transport users that our bus services across the ACT will operate on a Sunday timetable across the Easter long weekend.

Good Friday, Easter Saturday, Easter Sunday and Easter Monday are public holidays in the ACT. The Sunday timetable will operate from Friday 14 April to Monday 17 April 2017 inclusive, to reflect passenger demand over this period. read more

Extra buses to Skyfire and free return services

Avoid the hassle of driving and parking at Skyfire this Saturday, 18 March 2017, by catching one of Transport Canberra’s special Skyfire services to and from the event.

“Transport Canberra, again in partnership with Hit 104.7, will provide additional services to take Canberrans to Lake Burley Griffin for this great event, with two special Skyfire services in place departing major bus stations regularly,” Director, Public Transport Operations, Ian McGlinn, said. read more

Leave the car at home and let Transport Canberra take you to Raiders and Brumbies home games for free this footy season.

“Free public transport will again be running to and from all Raiders and Brumbies home games from Gungahlin, Belconnen, City, Woden and Tuggeranong Bus Stations dropping you outside the eastern gates of GIO Stadium,” Director, Public Transport Operations, Ian McGlinn said. read more

Let Transport Canberra take you to the 2017 Royal Canberra Show

Take a Transport Canberra bus to and from the Royal Canberra Show at EPIC this weekend and avoid the hassles of driving and parking.

If you have pre-purchased your Show ticket you can travel to the Show by bus for free. If you haven’t pre-purchased your ticket, normal fares will apply. The cheapest and easiest way to travel by bus is with a MyWay card, available from any MyWay Recharge Agent, online or by calling 13 17 10. Alternatively cash fares are available onboard. read more

Make sure you’re getting the best value bus travel this year

From Wednesday 25 January 2017, Transport Canberra will be working with the community to ensure passengers are getting the best value out of their bus fares and that those entitled to concession or free travel hold the correct concessional entitlement.
