Man to face Court for Gungahlin burglaries


A 38-year-old Kambah man will face the ACT Magistrates Court today (Wednesday, 16 August) charged with four Gungahlin burglaries and nine other related offences.

Following investigations into three burglaries in Harrison on 19 June 2017 and one burglary in Gungahlin on 14 August, members from Gungahlin Police Station and the ACT Police Targeting Team executed two search warrants in Kambah yesterday. read more

Man to face drug trafficking charges


A 32-year-old Crace man will face the ACT Magistrates Court this morning on drug trafficking charges (Tuesday, 15 August 2017).

Yesterday, members from Gungahlin Police Station executed a search warrant at a residence in Crace. During the search police located and seized a sum of cash and a substance suspected to be methamphetamine (ice). read more

Police investigate dinosaur damage in Nicholls


ACT Policing is seeking witnesses after three dinosaur’s sustained damage at the National Dinosaur Museum on Saturday night (5 August).

Around 11:00am Sunday (6 August) police attended the location and saw three damaged raptor dinosaurs. The damage sustained to the dinosaurs indicate that an angle grinder or hacksaw was used to remove the heads from the body. read more

Police urge road users to take care around intersections


With half of all collisions in Canberra occurring at intersections, this month ACT Policing is targeting people breaking road rules around intersections as part of its joint multi-agency road safety strategy.

So far this year (January–June), ACT Policing has issued 683 Traffic Infringement Notices (TINs) and 655 Cautions for intersection-related offences. read more

Police target shoplifting in discreet operations


ACT Policing has been conducting discreet operations targeting shoplifting across Canberra, with the last three operations resulting in the apprehension of 37 offenders.

Officers from Woden and Tuggeranong Police Stations and Community Safety Teams have been working with loss prevention officers at Woden, Gungahlin and Belconnen to identify and apprehend these offenders, with the most recent operation held at Woden on Friday (7 July). read more

Police target tailgating in Canberra


ACT Policing’s Traffic Operations team will be focusing on tailgating for the month of July 2017.

Most drivers have been in a situation where they feel they have been followed too closely by another vehicle. The obvious risk is that the tailgating driver won’t have enough time to brake if needed. This risk is amplified when driving in conditions such as in darkness and rain. In these conditions, drivers should allow a greater distance between their car and the car in front. read more

Police seek dash-cam footage and witnesses to collision


ACT Policing is seeking dash-cam footage or witnesses of a two-vehicle collision which occurred on Tuesday 27 June.

About 7pm, a black Holden Barina and a blue Yamaha TRX motorcycle were involved in an incident in the northbound lanes of the Barton Highway, Nicholls, heading towards the traffic lights at Clarrie Hermes Drive and Kuringa Drive. The ACT Ambulance Service attended and transported the motorcycle rider to the Canberra Hospital for the treatment of serious injuries. read more

Police seek witnesses to bus shelter damage


ACT Policing are seeking witnesses following several incidents of property damage to ACTION bus shelters across Gungahlin.

Police patrolling the Gungahlin area on Tuesday morning (20 June), identified property damage to eight ACTION bus shelters throughout Ngunnawal and Gungahlin. Glass panels and advertising frames at the bus shelters had been smashed. read more

Police release CCTV of property damage incident in Amaroo


ACT Policing is seeking to identify the offender from a property damage incident that occurred on Katherine Avenue in Amaroo on Thursday, 20 April 2017.

About 9.30pm, a man entered an ACTION bus and began a discussion with the driver. The male then exited the bus, picked up an item and threw it at the vehicle. The item connected with the glass paneled door which broke. The male then left the area on foot. read more
