Police investigate indecent assaults around Yerrabi Ponds



ACT Policing is seeking witnesses after an number of indecent assaults have occurred around Yerrabi Ponds, Gungahlin in the past two weeks.

ACT Policing Criminal Investigation detectives are leading the investigation after three reports of indecent assaults were made.

Police suspect that other incidents may have occurred and have not been reported to police.

The first incident occurred around 6.00pm on Thursday, 1 June 2017 where a man riding an old-looking mountain bike approached a 17-year-old female walking along the pedestrian path adjacent to Mirrabei Drive and indecently assaulted her.

The second incident occurred on Monday, 5 June 2017 where a man riding an old-looking mountain bike rode past a female near the East Island walkway bridge and committed an indecent assault upon the female.

The third incident also occurred on Monday, 5 June 2017, where the man approached a female who was jogging along the pedestrian path adjacent to Mirrabei Drive and asked an inappropriate question.

All three victims described the same offender. The offender can be described as Caucasian, aged in his late teens to twenties, with a thin to medium build and untidy hair that goes around his face to his chin. He also spoke with a European accent, possibly French.

At the time of the offences, the man was wearing a dark coloured ‘hoodie’ with pockets at the fronts near the waist, dark blue jeans and a black beanie.

The bike that that the man rides is described as an old mountain bike. The male has been seen either wearing a red helmet, or the ‘hoodie’ over his head.
