Legacy Week 2017 – Support the families of those who have served their country

This Legacy Week, Canberra Legacy is asking Canberrans to dig deep to support the families of veterans suffering financially and socially due to the death, injury or serious illness of a spouse or parent as a result of their service to the country.

Legacy Week will happen from 27th August to 2nd September 2017 and all donations will go directly to our beneficiaries, ensuring financial assistance provided by the Canberra community stays in the local region, supporting Canberra-based families. read more

Two to face court on aggravated burglary and theft offences

A 27-year-old Ngunnawal man and a 23-year-old Moncrieff woman will face the ACT Magistrates Court this morning (Friday 25 August) charged with aggravated burglary and theft offences.

On Friday 11 August 2017, police attended a burglary at residence in Casey where a number of items were stolen from the location. read more

Fire on store roof in Gungahlin

ACT Fire & Rescue has extinguished a small fire in a circuit board attached to solar panels on the roof of a store in Gungahlin.

Crews were alerted to the incident on Ernest Cavanagh Street at 9:39am and responded with two fire pumpers and a commander vehicle. read more

Night time light rail construction on Flemington Road

Major light rail construction work is set to occur at night on Flemington Road with temporary road closures at three locations over the next three months to accommodate the works. read more

Police investigate suspicious fire in Nicholls

ACT Policing is investigating a fire that occurred at a house in Nicholls yesterday (Sunday 20 August).

Gungahlin Impressions Open Art Program

Belconnen Community Services and Northside Community Service will run a 10 week Open Art Program called “Gungahlin Impressions” aimed at creative people who live in the Gungahlin region.

Participants in the program will be free to choose whatever art style they want to work on (murals, paintings, ceramic, sculpture, painting, mosaic, etc.) ; and if they want to work individually or in collaboration with another participant. No prior experience is needed and all the materials will be provided. read more

Horse Park Drive moves ahead with new stretch of road now open to traffic

The duplication of Horse Park Drive is progressing well with construction works on the section of road between Anthony Rolfe Avenue and Gundaroo Drive nearing completion.

The new section of road on this stretch of Horse Park Drive has been constructed and there will be a staged traffic switch from the existing lanes to this new section from tomorrow. read more

Man to face Court for Gungahlin burglaries

A 38-year-old Kambah man will face the ACT Magistrates Court today (Wednesday, 16 August) charged with four Gungahlin burglaries and nine other related offences.

Following investigations into three burglaries in Harrison on 19 June 2017 and one burglary in Gungahlin on 14 August, members from Gungahlin Police Station and the ACT Police Targeting Team executed two search warrants in Kambah yesterday. read more
