Police seek witnesses and dashcam footage of collision

ACT Policing is seeking witnesses to a collision which caused significant damage to a guard rail on Horse Park Drive on Tuesday 11 April.

About 4pm, a vehicle collided with the guard rail on the westbound lanes of Horse Park Drive, Kenny, about 200 meters west of the Federal Highway overpass. read more

Police seek assistance to locate driver

ACT Policing is seeking the public’s assistance to locate a driver involved in a collision with a police vehicle in Palmerston on Wednesday 19 April.

About 9.30pm, police drove into the carpark at Palmerston shops where a vehicle reversed and collided with the marked police vehicle. The vehicle then accelerated away and fled the scene. read more

Light rail stage one takes shape as stop names announced

Stage one of Canberra’s light rail project reaches a landmark today with the announcement of the 13 stops names between Civic and Gungahlin.

The stop names have been named geographically in relation to major streets and intersections they will service, providing Canberrans with part of the service they can personally identify with. read more

Double demerits in place for ANZAC Day long weekend

ACT Policing is reminding motorists to drive safely over the weekend and leading up to ANZAC Day and warning that double demerit points will be in place from the first instance on Friday 21 April 2017 through until the last instance on Tuesday 25 April 2017.

Officer-in-Charge of Traffic Operations, Acting Station Sergeant Marcus Boorman said motorists that choose to disobey the road rules will be targeted. read more

Register to Ride to Anzac Day events

The ACT Government is encouraging members of the public to Register to Ride with Transport Canberra to attend the upcoming ANZAC Day Ceremonies on Tuesday 25 April 2017.

Barton Highway intersection upgrade complete

The $10 million upgrade of the Barton Highway/Gundaroo Drive/William Slim Drive intersection is finished, following the opening of an additional lane on the William Slim Drive approach.

Federal Minister for Infrastructure and Transport Darren Chester said the Australian Government had fully funded the project as part of its investment in better and safer roads throughout the ACT.  read more

New Moncrieff park opens

A new Moncrieff park named in honour of two famous Australian musicians, both with the surname Dawson, was officially opened last week.

The ceremony at Dawson Park, on Slim Dusty Crescent – all Moncrieff streets are named after musicians – recognised the contributions of Smoky Dawson and Peter Dawson to the Australian music industry. read more
