Hibberson Street permanent closure Bus diversions in place at Gungahlin Town Centre

With significant light rail construction progress being made along Flemington Road, work is soon to begin in Hibberson street. As a result, Hibberson Street will be closing permanently to vehicular traffic from Kate Crace Street to Gungahlin Place from Monday 10 April 2017 in order to start work on the Gungahlin light rail terminus.

Transport Canberra bus users will see diversions to services that travel through the Gungahlin Town Centre from Monday 10 April 2017, allowing for civil works for stage one of the city wide light rail project.  read more

Teenager to face court after aggravated burglary

A 17-year-old male teenager will face the ACT Children’s Court today after being arrested while committing an aggravated burglary in Ngunnawal yesterday (Wednesday, 29 March) afternoon.

Around 4:45pm police were called to a house in Ngunnawal after a report of a suspicious car and two men were seen entering a house. The car had previously been reported stolen and had come to police attention for failing to stop upon police direction and driving in a reckless manner. read more

Partial night road closures on Horse Park Drive intersections

Work is progressing well on the Horse Park Drive duplication and the ACT Government will soon undertake night works to place asphalt at the Mapleton Avenue and Well Station Drive intersections.

The work to place an asphalt overlay will require a partial closure between 7pm and 6am for three weeknights at each intersection. read more

Library branches closed Wednesday for annual planning day

Libraries ACT’s branches including the Heritage Library will be closed on Wednesday 22 March 2017 for the annual planning day to enable all library employees to meet and continue to provide good services to the ACT community.

“The annual planning day closure will affect the Heritage Library and the Access Canberra driver license service located at Civic Library. Regular programs like story time and Giggle & Wiggle will also not be held,” Vanessa Little, Director, Libraries ACT said. read more

Next stage of Horse Park Drive duplication about to begin

Work on the duplication of Horse Park Drive from Anthony Rolfe Avenue to Mulligans Flat Road will start in coming weeks with the successful project tenders announced today.

“I am pleased to announce Canberra Contractors Pty Ltd as the successful construction contractor and AECOM as the supervision contractor to continue the duplication of Horse Park Drive from Anthony Rolfe Avenue to Mulligans Flat Road,” said Minister for Transport and City Services Meegan Fitzharris. read more

Gungahlin Rural Fire Brigade celebrate 20 years

Last night the members of the Gungahlin Rural Fire Brigade hung up their fire fighting gear for a celebratory dinner at Da Nunzio to celebrate their 20th anniversary.

Gungahlin Rural Fire Brigade is part of the ACT Rural Fire Service which is responsible for protecting life, property and the environment from all bush and grass fires that occur within rural areas or non-suburban areas of the ACT. read more

Extra buses to Skyfire and free return services

Avoid the hassle of driving and parking at Skyfire this Saturday, 18 March 2017, by catching one of Transport Canberra’s special Skyfire services to and from the event.
