Dramatic Productions Sweeney Todd receives award nominiations


Earlier this year local theatre company Dramatic Productions held a production of Sweeney Tood, The Demon Barber of Fleet Street - A Musical Thriller at Gungahlin College. Flemington Road and Federal Highway intersection works


Transport Canberra and City Services (TCCS) is asking motorists to follow the carefully marked detours and allow additional travel time when leaving, or returning to Canberra via the Federal Highway while work on stage one of the light rail project ramps up over the quiet January period.

Important works at the Flemington Road and Federal Highway intersection will require the temporary closure of the intersection for all northbound traffic from 9 January to 25 January 2018. The works will be conducted 24 hours a day, 7 days a week during this period. read more

‘Tis the season to recycle more and waste less


The ACT Government is reminding Canberrans to be environmentally sustainable this festive season and look for opportunities to reduce waste, reuse and recycle where possible.

“During the festive period Canberrans can generate up to 10 per cent or more rubbish and recycling than any other time of the year,” said ACT NoWaste Team Leader, Robbie Ladbrook. read more

Double demerits over the festive season


ACT Policing is reminding motorists that double demerits will be in place this festive season from the first instance of Friday 22 December 2017 to the last instance of Monday 1 January 2018.

All speed and seatbelt offences, the use of a mobile phone while driving, driving with a passenger in or on part of the vehicle not designed for carriage of passengers or goods, and riding a motorbike without a helmet will incur double demerit points. All other offences will incur one extra demerit point. read more

Recycle unwanted mattresses this holiday season


The ACT Government is urging Canberrans to be responsible and recycle their unwanted mattresses this holiday season and not to illegally dump them.

“Illegal dumping costs the community a significant amount of taxpayers’ funds. Cleaning up illegal dumping places a burden on the ACT Government and costs time and money as staff need to be diverted from their regular duties to investigate and deal with the issue. While most people do the right thing and dispose of their unwanted goods responsibly, there are members of the community who do illegally dump and we want to send a clear message that this is unacceptable behaviour,” said Manager of Place Management at Transport Canberra and City Services, Jane Carder. read more

Before you hit the road...cover your load


Transport Canberra and City Services (TCCS) and Access Canberra are reminding motorists to cover their load when towing trailers or driving vehicles to help eliminate litter and items blowing or falling off onto roadways, reserves and bushland.

“Under the Litter Act 2004, littering of any kind is illegal in the ACT. This includes travelling with an uncovered load in a car, trailer, truck or ute, even if it does not result in littering,” Director of City Presentation Stephen Alegria said. read more

Upcoming temporary road closures on Francis Forde Boulevard


Francis Forde Boulevard will be closed between Horse Park Drive and Neil Harris Crescent over the coming weeks as the duplication of Horse Park Drive between Gundaroo Drive and Mulligans Flat Road progresses towards completion. read more
