ACT Government roads update drop-in sessions


Thursday and Friday last week, the government including MLAs Meegan Fitzharris and Jayson Hinder, TAMS, ACTION and Capital Metro held a drop in session at Gungahlin Market place. They had on hand updates and information about current and planned roads projects in Gungahlin.

Duplication of a segment of Gundaroo Drive between Mirrabei Drive and Gungahlin Drive has begun. This is due for completion early 2017. Duplication from Gungahlin Drive to Barton Highway remains a future intention, though is not yet funded, so no timeline is known. read more

Community update on public housing in Nicholls


In December 2015, the ACT Environment and Planning Directorate (EPD) gave conditional approval for the Public Housing Renewal Taskforce to construct 13 two-bedroom public housing dwellings in a single-storey development on Kelleway Avenue, Nicholls. read more

Don’t send foil to the soil this Easter


Easter is a great time to remember that all that Easter egg foil can actually be recycled, Minister for Transport and Municipal Services Meegan Fitzharris said.

“Easter is a time when we get together with family and friends and maybe get stuck into an Easter egg or two. Often those Easter eggs are wrapped in foil, cardboard and plastic,” Minister Fitzharris said. read more

Double demerits in place for Easter long weekend


ACT Policing is urging motorists to drive safely over the Easter long weekend and warns that double demerit points will be in place from the first instance on Thursday, 24 March 2016 until the last instance on Monday, 28 March 2016.

All speed and seatbelt offences, the use of a mobile phone while driving, driving with a passenger in or on part of the vehicle not designed for carriage of passengers or goods, and riding a motorbike without a helmet will incur double demerit points. All other offences will incur one extra demerit point. read more

Extra buses to Skyfire and free services home


Canberrans heading to Skyfire this Saturday are urged to avoid parking hassles by catching one of ACTION’s special Skyfire services to and from the event.

ACTION buses, in partnership with Hit 104.7, will provide additional services to take Canberrans to Lake Burley Griffin with free chartered return services to major bus stations afterwards. read more

Work begins to duplicate Gundaroo Drive


The first stage of works on the $31.1 million project to duplicate Gundaroo Drive will commence today (weather permitting), helping to improve safety and relieve congestion in the growing Gungahlin region.
