A man has sustained superficial burns after trying to extinguish a fire in Nicholls.

Gungahlin Residents Helping Hand Sees McHappy Day Break Fundraising Record

Gungahlin District residents have collectively raised $16,723 as part of this year’s McHappy Day which raised a total of $3.95 million across the country and became the most successful day in Ronald McDonald House Charities’ 25-year history.

Funds raised from the day will be used across the range of Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) programs including Ronald McDonald House, Ronald McDonald Family Rooms and the Ronald McDonald Learning Program, which go towards helping seriously ill children and their families. read more

Traffic lights operational at the Barton Highway intersection

Construction will continue in the new year at the Barton Highway intersection following the traffic lights being switched on this week.

The third lane on the Barton Highway southbound approach over the bridge will be completed in early January 2017 and the William Slim Drive approach will be completed in February 2017. Some delays on these approaches are expected until these works are complete.  read more

Waste Management over Christmas and New Years

There are no changes to household bin collections over the Christmas and New Year holidays for 2016-17. Scheduled collections will occur on Boxing Day 26th December 2016.

On Sunday 25th December all waste facilities will be closed, including all business operating within the Mitchell Management Centre. read more

Special Christmas holiday bus timetable for the festive season

A message from Transport Canberra. Buses will run a revised bus timetable over the Christmas and New Year period, starting from Monday 19 December 2016 until Friday 6 January 2017 inclusive.

The Christmas holiday timetable will run over three weeks to reflect decreased passenger demand during the festive season. A Saturday timetable will be in place for both Christmas Eve, and New Year’s Eve. read more

The ACT Indoor Sport Facility Report as commissioned by the ACT Government in 2015 acknowledged that as population growth continues in Gungahlin there will be an increased demand for additional sport facilities.  read more

Signalised Barton Highway roundabout now operational

Traffic lights at the Barton Highway/Gundaroo Drive/William Slim Drive roundabout are now operational, helping to tackle congestion and improve safety at the busy intersection.

Federal Minister for Infrastructure and Transport Darren Chester said the introduction of signals on the roundabout would assist the traffic flow in peak hour.  read more
