Police seek witnesses to bus shelter damage


ACT Policing are seeking witnesses following several incidents of property damage to ACTION bus shelters across Gungahlin.

Police patrolling the Gungahlin area on Tuesday morning (20 June), identified property damage to eight ACTION bus shelters throughout Ngunnawal and Gungahlin. Glass panels and advertising frames at the bus shelters had been smashed. read more

Gungahlin Lakes Supports Local Sporting Community


Following the recent vandalism at the Gungahlin Jets’ home ground which saw extensive damage of facilities including playing fields and canteen, the community sports club is now faced with the cost of repairs while deprived of the crucial revenue raised from the canteen.

Having recognised the heartbreak of the Jets club and community, Ainslie Group President Wayne Rogers presented a $5,000 donation on Wednesday 21st June to the Gungahlin Jets Junior Football Club on behalf of Gungahlin Lakes Golf & Community Club. The donation will see essential funds immediately available to the Jets while they get back on their feet during this time of need. read more

Canberra Metro construction Flemington Road and Mapleton Avenue


Out of hours works will take place at the intersection of Mapleton Avenue and Flemington Road from 21st June. Northbound and southbound traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction and right turns will not be permitted into Mapleton Avenue. From 8pm - 6am only northbound traffic will be diverted onto Manning Clark Crescent - no access onto Flemington Road.  read more

Police release CCTV of property damage incident in Amaroo


ACT Policing is seeking to identify the offender from a property damage incident that occurred on Katherine Avenue in Amaroo on Thursday, 20 April 2017.

About 9.30pm, a man entered an ACTION bus and began a discussion with the driver. The male then exited the bus, picked up an item and threw it at the vehicle. The item connected with the glass paneled door which broke. The male then left the area on foot. read more

Amaroo School expansion underway


From MLA Yvette Berry: "Today I visited Amaroo School to turn the first sod of the new Amaroo School expansion. This $13.16 million project combines the construction of new learning areas for 300 extra students as well as the extension of existing infrastructure and the building of brand new hard court facilities.

In our recent 2017/18 budget, the government recognised the need for investment in our Gungahlin public schools. Public school enrolments in the Gungahlin region have grown by about 53% over the last five years. read more

Police investigate property damage in Amaroo


ACT Policing is seeking witnesses after a stolen ‘bobcat’ excavator was used to cause extensive damage at the Amaroo District Playing Fields early yesterday morning (Sunday, 11 June 2017).

The excavator was stolen from a nearby building site and used to cause a large amount of property damage to infrastructure around the playing fields, including damaging the canteen, trees, bollards and fencing. read more
