Rhee Taekwon-Do, the first Taekwon-Do school in Australia, is a traditional martial arts school and has been established in Canberra for over 46 years. There are currently 10 Rhee Taekwon-Do Dojangs across Canberra.
Rhee Taekwon-Do Nicholls is run by 2nd Dan Instructors Luke and Edith, together with their 1st Dan daughters, Georgia and Josie and Junior Black Belt son Callum. They run family oriented classes with an emphasis on fun, energetic fitness and self-defence. Edith and the girls are known for their dynamic sparring, whilst Luke regularly includes destruction techniques in class.
Rhee Taekwon-Do Harrison (held at Mother Teresa Primary) is run by 2nd Dan Instructor Ben, with the assistance of 1st Dan Instructor Simone. Harrison Dojang is known for its focus on self-discipline and good technique in a fun and friendly environment. With weekdays busier than ever for families, Harrison Dojang offers a class on Sunday’s with an optional senior class for older members and higher grades.
Juniors learn self-defence techniques that are appropriate to their age and the school environment. We contrast this with 'stranger danger' situations that may occur in real life. Classes are active to keep children engaged and learning.
Senior Rhee Taekwon-Do students are given advanced training and adults learn advanced self defence. As students approach their black belt, they study destruction (board breaking) and defence against multiple opponents. Special training sessions are held to assist black belt applicants to achieve the highest standard for their grading. A black belt in Rhee Taekwon-Do comes with great responsibility and World Master Rhee personally grades all applicants.
Pee Rhees is designed for 3-6 year old children and is a modified, age appropriate martial arts program. Children will burn plenty of energy and learn basic Taekwon-Do moves in this class. We train them in a fun way that encourages them to learn in a safe and friendly environment. Once the children are ready and old enough, they are able to graduate to the main Dojang classes.
Regular training in Rhee Taekwon-Do will see your fitness improve, help you to become more dynamic and assist with injury prevention in other sports. We do not hold competitions, the emphasis is on helping students to improve their fitness, confidence, self- respect and attain indomitable spirit.
Students are not required to sign a contract. One monthly payment covers training, at all dojangs. We hold Canberra wide combined intensive training sessions and gradings every quarter. Students who travel regularly can train at hundreds of dojangs across Australia for no extra charge. Special rates are available for children and families.
We offer a free trial to allow prospective students an opportunity to see whether Rhee Taekwon-Do is right for you. Join us and make new friends while being taught by members of your local community. You can also find us on the web at www.rheeact.com.au.
